Hi, I'm Sheehan H Ahmed
I am an Assistant Teaching Professor at Rutgers University - Newark. I am currently working with my colleagues to overhaul the introductory physics program there to the ISLE (Investigative Science Learning Environment) system. My research involves studying the kinematics and evolution of satellite galaxies in cosmological simulations. I am interested in how the interactions of satellite galaxies with their hosts affect mass loss over time, z=0 mass distributions and spatial distributions. I am particularly interested in dwarf satellites around Milky Way-sized hosts and satellite galaxies around LMC/SMC sized hosts.
I am also interested in Physics Education Research and outreach in physics education. I find teaching to be the most enriching part of academia and try to make my classes as engaging and entertaining as possible. Doing physics demonstrations for outreach projects is something I find extremely enjoyable.
